Instruction
- Preparation:
- Put on all required PPE
- Ensure the work area is well-ventilated
- Ensure the soldering iron is on a stable, heat-resistant surface
- Plug in the soldering iron and set it to the appropriate temperature
- Allow the iron to reach the desired temperature
- Soldering:
- Heat the joint with the soldering iron
- Apply solder to the joint, not the iron, and let it flow into the connection
- Remove the soldering iron and allow the joint to cool without disturbance
- Finishing:
- Inspect the solder joint for a smooth finish
- Turn off and unplug the soldering iron
- Clean the work area
Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Eye Protection: Safety glasses
- Respiratory Protection: Mask
- Body Coverings: Heat resistant gloves
Engineering Controls
- Fume extraction system to remove solder fumes
- Proper lighting to ensure clear visibility of the work area
EMERGENCY RESPONSE
- Burns: Cool the burn under running water for at least 10 minutes, seek medical attention if necessary
- Eye Injury: Flush eyes with water for at least 15 minutes, seek immediate medical attention
- Inhalation: Move to fresh air, seek medical attention if breathing difficulties occur
