Instruction
- Preparation:
- Follow manufacturer’s instructions
- Wear required PPE
- Set up in a well-ventilated area (a spray booth)
- Ensure surface protection: cover surrounding areas
- Clean the surface area you plan to bond
- Application:
- Apply a small amount of solvent cement to one surface using the applicator
- Quickly press the two surfaces together and hold for a few seconds
- Curing:
- Let the bond fully cure (up to 24 hours) for maximum strength
Product List
A policy prohibits the presence of products containing Dichloromethane on the GSD campus. Many commercially available solvent cements contain this chemical, so consult the policy and product Safety Data Sheet for additional guidance, before proceeding.

Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Eye Protection: Chemical Splash Goggles or Face Shield
- Skin Protection: Nitrile Gloves
Engineering Controls
- Use in a well-ventilated area (spray booth)
- Use in area where a safety eyewash and shower are nearby (Project Room, Gund L31)
- Use in area where a spill kit is nearby (Project Room, Gund L31)
Emergency Response
- Skin Contact: Wash with soap and water. Seek medical attention if irritation persists
- Eye Contact: Flush with water for 15 minutes. Seek immediate medical attention
- Inhalation: Move to fresh air, and seek medical attention if symptoms occur
- Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting, rinse mouth, seek immediate medical attention
Storage
- Store in a cool, dry place
- Keep the container tightly closed
- Store away from heat, sparks, and open flame, in a yellow Flammables Cabinet
Disposal
- Dispose of hardened cement (no longer liquid) in the landfill waste bin
- Consult Lab staff to determine local hazardous waste disposal requirements for unused product
